CONNECT seeks to bring together the IISc community and engage with the outside world through stories about life in the Institute, its research, and rich heritage. An initiative of the Office of Communications (OoC), formerly the Archives and Publications Cell (APC), Connect is also published as a quarterly magazine.

OoC is involved in several other activities, including publishing brochures and organising exhibitions about people and events associated with IISc, archiving documents and objects of historical importance for posterity, organising lectures, and more. OoC also has a publishing wing – IIScPress – which brings out research monographs, lecture notes, popular science books, the Journal of the Indian Institute of Science, and many other publications. OoC is also responsible for various science communication efforts, including press releases, social media and science writing internships.
